It is essential to provide clarity, transparency, and education about autonomous
vehicle technology to the public. The public is confused and fearful of the technology
due to a lack of understanding because they are receiving hype as well as muddled
messages in the press and media. This panel will discuss the technologies necessary
in achieving true autonomy to advance safety on the roadways. Furthermore, it will
address the question: how can the message about autonomy and advanced safety be
more clear, understandable, and by doing so, be more reassuring?
